Man accused of brutally assaulting girlfriend, false imprisonment

A Lancaster man was arrested after police caught him sitting on top of his girlfriend and covering her mouth to muffle her screams during an argument.

Aaron Wicks, 24, was charged with false imprisonment of the 26-year-old Adelanto woman. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Victor Valley police received a report at about 1:15 AM on Tuesday, August 9th, that there were sounds of screaming and glass breaking coming from inside an apartment located in the 18300 block of Montezuma Street in Adelanto. Officers arrived at the unit and found a broken window and a front door that had apparently been forced open.

“Once they entered the apartment, they could hear yelling and signs of a struggle coming from the bathroom,” according to a press release from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Department. “Inside the restroom, deputies found Aaron Wicks sitting on top of the victim, covering her mouth to keep her from screaming.”

Investigation revealed that the couple had been arguing, and Wicks assaulted the woman. She received medical treatment at the scene.

Wicks was booked at High Desert Detention Center.
