42-year-old Joshua Robert Swiderski of Modesto was arrested for burglary, unlawful possession of tear gas, possession of burglary tools, and possession of a controlled substance.

On Tuesday morning, the Sonora Police Department took a burglary report to a business at the 1000 block of Mono Way. The crime occurred overnight, and video surveillance captured images of the suspect in the act. Cash and electronics were stolen from the business.

Later in the day, one of our officers spotted a male matching the suspect’s description on South Washington Street. The officer contacted him and identified him as Swiderski. Further investigation revealed he was in possession of items connecting him to the burglary, and Swiderski ultimately admitted to committing the crime. The investigating officers also located pepper spray and suspected methamphetamine on him. Swiderski is prohibited by law from possessing pepper spray because he is a convicted felon

“Individuals identified herein were arrested on suspicion of the crimes for which they have been charged. All such charges are merely accusations, and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.” “
