“Last night at around 10:45pm, we received calls advising that a business in the 6600-block of Pacific Avenue in Stockton was being robbed at gunpoint. Patrol Deputies arrived in less than five minutes, but witnesses reported the robber had fled just before we arrived. Witnesses were able to provide a good description of the robber and his clothing, and other Patrol resources circulated the area looking for him.

Deputies on-scene recovered a set of car keys, but they did not belong to any of the victims or witnesses. Using the remote on the keyring, a vehicle was located nearby. Inside that vehicle, Deputies located the clothing the robber was wearing, a fully-loaded unregistered and unserialized firearm, and all of the $1,196 stolen from the business. Also in the car was a wallet containing a Californa ID Card matching the robber’s description. And a matching Federal Bureau of Prisons ID.

A suspect matching the IDs in the wallet was located nearby and taken into custody without incident. After being positively identified by witnesses, 50-year-old Douglas Piggee Jr. of Stockton was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail for armed robbery and other firearms-related felonies. (Piggee is a convicted felon, and is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.)

The stolen money was returned to the business, and no injuries were reported by anyone involved.”
