Felon Found in Possession of Loaded Firearm During Traffic Stop

“On April 17, 2022, at around 7:34 P.M., officers with the Redding Police Department conducted a traffic enforcement stop within the 4600 block of Westside Road. When officers contacted the driver, Christopher Rich, 40 years of Redding, they learned he was driving on a suspended license and they also located drug paraphernalia in plain view within the vehicle.

Based on probable cause, officers searched the vehicle and located a loaded 9mm handgun and additional drug paraphernalia. A subsequent consent search of Rich’s nearby motel room revealed various caliber ammunition and additional drug paraphernalia indicative of drug sales.

Rich is a convicted felon and is prohibited from owning and/or possessing firearms and ammunition. Rich was placed under arrest and booked into the Shasta County Jail for charges related to, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited Person Possessing Ammunition, Driving on a Suspended License.”
