Innocent bystander to domestic dispute fatally shot in strip mall parking lot, suspect arrested

An Anaheim man has been arrested for murder after he allegedly shot a witness to his domestic dispute in a strip mall parking lot.

On the evening of March 18th, Adalid Arcigaplancart (52) of Anaheim was reportedly “arguing with a woman with whom he had a romantic relationship,” in the parking lot of a strip mall located in the 1300 block of South Euclid Street, according to Sgt. Shane Carringer.  Meanwhile, Jorge Becerra-Vera (40) of Stanton was there to shop and happened upon the dispute.

“During the argument, Arcigaplancarte apparently noticed that Becerra-Vera was watching and confronted him,” continues Sgt. Carringer.  “During that confrontation, Arcigaplancarte shot Becerra-Vera and then fled the scene.”  No other injuries were reported.

Police arrived shortly after 7 PM and found Becerra-Vera with at least one gunshot wound.  He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Police located Arcigaplancarte at about 11:30 AM the following day in the in the 4000 block of South Main Street in Santa Ana.  He was arrested without incident and booked at the Anaheim Detention Facility for murder.  His bail was set at $1 million.
