The Redding Police Department has announced two arrests in connection to the alleged sexual exploitation of children.

On January 30, investigators served a search warrant at a home on Churn Creek Road after developing suspicion that 37-year-old Clifton Wessels was involved in child pornography.

Wessels was ultimately arrested on suspicion of possessing and manufacturing child pornography and booked at the Shasta County Jail.

On February 11, detectives arrested 53-year-old David Baker, concluding an investigation that had begun in September 2021. Detectives had served a search warrant at Baker’s Hilltop Drive home, reportedly confiscating several digital media devices which they then combed for possible child pornography.

Baker, whom police say is a registered sex offender, has been booked at the Shasta County Jail on suspicion of possession of child pornography by a registered sex offender.
