“On Friday, February 5, 2022 at approximately 1:00 a.m., an officer with the Santa Rosa Police Department was conducting proactive patrol in the area of Petaluma Hill Road and Santa Ana Drive, and noticed a car with an equipment violation.

He conducted an enforcement stop and was immediately met with a strong odor of freshly burnt marijuana. After further investigation, the officer developed probable cause to search the person and belongings of one of the passengers.

The passenger was found to have a concealed loaded firearm in a satchel in his possession. A small amount of marijuana and an open bottle of alcohol was also located in the area where the passenger had been sitting.

Ozzy Smith, a 20-year-old Santa Rosa resident was arrested and booked into jail for the following charges:

25400(a)(1) PC – Felony possession of a concealed loaded firearm in a vehicle
25850(a) PC – Possession of a loaded unregistered firearm”
