IRWINDALE – Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Deputies received an added boost during a sheriff’s pursuit of a stolen vehicle.

Officers from the Irwindale Police Department and the Baldwin Park Police Department gave a powerful assist during the early afternoon of January 25th.

Fortunately, the multi-agency chase terminated at the at the intersection of Azusa Canyon Road and Los Angeles Street in the city of Irwindale. Unfortunately, the incident culminated in a multi-vehicle traffic collision.

Sheriff’s Deputies immediately arrested the anonymous suspect at the scene. According to Irwindale Police Department, “a number of felony charges” were doled out to the dangerous driver.

Since the pursuit began outside of Irwindale, the Sheriff’s Department is conducting the criminal investigation into the pursuit and multi-crash incident. A quick response from Irwindale Police Department Traffic Investigators took charge of the traffic-collision investigation.

Luckily, no serious injuries were reported. However, strewn vehicles and debris on the train tracks closed down the area and resulting train access.

Metrolink train service was resumed a few hours later, once the track beds were safely cleared. The streets were re-opened at approximately 3:15 PM – much to the chagrin of delayed parents needing to safely pick up students awaiting rides at their schools.
