Teachers aids gives birth to minor student’s child

SAN DIMAS—A San Dimas teacher’s aide was arrested after authorities discovered a personal journal detailing an alleged sexual relationship with a  student. Thirty one year old Mandy Morales worked at the McKinley Children’s Center’s Canyon View School, which specializes in educating developmentally and behaviorally challenged students.

According to a LASD press release, Morales had been carrying on the sexual relationship with the 16-year-old student since 2011. During that time, Morales allegedly gave birth to a child fathered by the victim.

According to the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, the student is described as not being developmentally disabled, but was not thriving in a traditional school environment. They quoted sheriff’s Sergeant Peter Hahn as stating “There is one victim we are aware of. There is always the chance that there (are) more victims out there that we’re unaware of.” He also told them that the father, now 19-years-old, is still in contact with the child.

The relationship began at McKinley Children's Center Canyon View School

Morales was arrested at her residence and booked at the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station for Unlawful Sexual Intercourse. Morales was released before her July 11th arraignment after posting $50,000 bail. The McKinley Children’s Center placed Morales on administrative leave.
