Homicide Suspect Arrested in Oceanside

“On Sunday, December 26, 2021, at approximately 5:27 pm, officers from the Oceanside Police Department responded to a medical emergency call at the 100 block of Ely Street.

Officers arrived on scene where Oceanside Fire Department personnel attempted life saving measures to aid a male adult gunshot victim.

The victim, identified as twenty-year-old Samuel Pina was pronounced deceased at the scene. Shortly thereafter, Oceanside Police Department officers in the area spotted a vehicle thought to be connected to the incident.

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled. A brief pursuit ensued and ended when the suspect collided with another vehicle.

The suspect then attempted to flee on foot. Officers were able to quickly apprehend the suspect, twenty-three-year-old, Adrian Pina without further incident. Suspect Pina was booked at the Vista Detention Facility for suspicion of murder.”
