On December 23, 2021, deputies with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department made a traffic stop on a vehicle associated with the suspects at Crowslanding Road and Colusa. At the time of the traffic stop, Amber Gartin was the driver, Salvador Licea-Valencia was the passenger and two young children were in the car. As deputies took Amber Gartin into custody, Salvador Licea-Valencia moved into the driver’s seat and fled with the two children still in the vehicle. Deputies pursued Salvador.
The pursuit continued into the City of Ceres and ended when Salvador Licea-Valencia crashed into another vehicle. The collision caused the other vehicle to collide into a third vehicle. All parties were either uninjured or had minor injuries. The children were medi-flighted to a children’s hospital out of the area out of an abundance of caution and found not to have injuries. Salvador was taken into custody at the scene of the collision.
Manuel Alejandro Licea-Valencia was contacted and detained by Corning Police in Corning, CA on December 23, 2021 after working with MPD detectives. Detectives with MPD responded to Corning and transported Manuel back to Modesto before booking him.
We’d like to thank the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, Ceres Police Department and Corning Police Department for their help in capturing the suspects in this homicide investigation.”
