A Hollister man has been arrested in connection to a recent shooting that left another man in critical condition.

Police had responded on the night of August 8 to a report of a shooting on Circle Court. At the scene, they found a 21-year-old man having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was quickly taken to a local trauma center for treatment, and his condition was determined to be critical.

Investigators identified the primary suspect as 19-year-old Bobby Viramontes, and believe that the incident started out as an argument between Viramontes and the victim which escalated to a shooting.

On August 10, investigators tracked Viramontes to the area of Illinois Avenue in Los Banos, where they set up surveillance. Upon spotting him, they detained and arrested him without incident. During the arrest, Viramontes was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm, according to police.

He has since been booked at the San Benito County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.
