San Francisco Police Locate and Arrest Bayview Homicide Suspect

“On Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at approximately 4:30 p.m., San Francisco Police officers from Bayview Station responded to the area of Keith Street and Oakdale Avenue for a report of a shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located 32-year-old Thomas O’Bannon suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers rendered aid to the victim and summoned medics to the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital where, despite life-saving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators developed information that identified the suspect as 36-year-old Derell Young of Vallejo. A no-bail warrant was issued for Young’s arrest.

On August 3, 2021, members of the SFPD Homicide Detail and the Tactical Unit served the arrest warrant on the 400 block of Corcoran Avenue in Vallejo. Young was taken into custody without incident. Young was later transported to San Francisco County Jail where he was booked on charges of murder (187(a) PC) and felon in possession of a firearm (29800(a)(1) PC).

While an arrest has been made this remains an open investigation.”
