Two arrested after 1:00 AM traffic stop

“On July 21st at 1:15 a.m., Placer County Sheriff’s deputies initiated a traffic stop at the Gold Run rest stop. Deputies identified the driver as 30-year old Vernita Jackson of San Francisco.

The passenger gave deputies a false name. Through an investigation, he was identified as 31-year old James Allen of San Francisco. Allen had two outstanding San Francisco County warrants.

While speaking with the occupants, the deputy could smell the odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Deputies searched the car and found a backpack with a loaded Glock 30S semi-automatic pistol with an extended magazine containing 20 bullets.

The gun was positioned to be readily accessible to the driver and passenger. Deputies also found an extended drum-type pistol magazine containing an additional 28 bullets.

Jackson and Allen were arrested for felons in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle. Allen was also arrested for false impersonation and his warrants
