Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

“On the morning of June 2, 2021, at about 8:15 AM Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible residential burglary in the 12000 block of Hwy 4 Camp Connell CA. The reporting party stated they were watching their security cameras when they noticed a dark colored Ford Ranger parked on the property. The reporting party noted it was suspicious and believed there was a possible crime afoot, possibly a theft or burglary in progress.

Deputies from Calaveras and Alpine Counties, and California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene. Upon arrival, deputies located a stolen vehicle near the driveway and suspect Jonathan Johnson (36 years of age, Sonora) and Christina Archer (36 years of age, Sonora) inside of the residence. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident. It was discovered the suspect broke a window to gain entry into the residence.

During the investigation, deputies located drug paraphernalia and multiple small ziplocked bags containing suspected methamphetamine. The bags containing suspected methamphetamine totaled approximately 42.3 grams.

Jonathan Johnson was booked into the Calaveras County Jail on charges 460(b) P.C. Residential Burglary (Felony), 10851(a) CVC Vehicle Theft (Felony), 496(a) P.C. Possession of Stolen Property (Felony), 11379 H&S Transportation of a Controlled Substance (Felony), 11378 H&S Possession of Drugs for Sale (Felony), 182 PC Conspiracy (Felony), 11364(a) H&S Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor) and 11377(a) H&S Possession of Controlled Substance (Misdemeanor). Johnson was also booked on an outstanding felony warrant (drug and weapon charges) issued from the Tuolumne County Superior Court. Johnson is being held with a total bail of $70,000.00

Christina Archer was booked into the Calaveras County Jail on charges 460(b) P.C. Residential Burglary (Felony), 496(a) P.C. Possession of Stolen Property (Felony), 11379 H&S Transportation of a Controlled Substance (Felony), 11378 H&S Possession of Drugs for Sale (Felony), 182 PC Conspiracy (Felony), (A) H&S 11364(a) H&S Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor), and 11377(a) H&S Possession of Controlled Substance (Misdemeanor). Archer is being held with a bail of $50,000.00

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all witnesses and allied agencies who assisted with the apprehension of these two criminals. This is an excellent example of our continued partnership with the community to reduce crime.

• Security doors or quality doors and locks/deadbolts
• Security cameras
• Close curtains when you leave
• Exterior motion lighting
• Interior timers for lights
