Originally published as a Yucaipa Police Department Nixle post –

“On January 1, 2021, Cherisse Petersen gave birth to her child at a residence in the city of Yucaipa. Child abuse was suspected, and Petersen was sought by Child & Family Services (CFS) and law enforcement for an active warrant and to assess the health and well-being of the newborn child.

Peterson and the newborn evaded CFS until March 27, 2021 when she was located and arrested. The newborn child was removed and placed into foster care by CFS. A medical exam was conducted on the newborn and the newborn tested positive for methamphetamine.

On April 29, 2021 investigators contacted Petersen at Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center for an interview. At the completion of the interview Petersen was booked on an additional felony charge and is now being held at Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center in lieu of $100,000 bail.”
