A 20-year-old man has been arrested for shooting and killing another man in Anaheim. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Richard Flores of Anaheim, was arrested in Fullerton following the shooting. The motive for the killing has not been disclosed, but police do not believe it to be gang-related.  According to the release, “Detectives have declined to discuss details about other possible motives or the evidence that led to the identification of Flores as a suspect.”

The shooting took place in the 1700 block of West Glenoaks Avenue at around 11:30 PM on April 16, 2021.  Anaheim police officers arrived to find the victim, 30-year-old Jefferson Anthony Davis of Anaheim, “suffering from at least one gunshot wound,” according to the release.  He was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but sadly, he died while he was there.

Investigators identified Flores as a person of interest following the incident.  He was found driving around in Fullerton, where officers unsuccessfully tried to apprehend him.  He was later located in the 600 block of South Brookhurst Road and taken into custody without incident.  “The resulting investigation confirmed Flores is the suspect in the shooting death of Davis,” states the release.

Flores was charged with murder and booked into the Anaheim Detention Facility.  His bail has been set at $1 million.
