Suspect Arrested for Shooting a Man to Death and Wounding a Second Victim

 

EL SOBRANTE — Authorities arrested a suspect in connection with a double- shooting last month which left one man dead. The second victim was critically injured but survived the ordeal.

Both shootings occurred March 31 near apartment complexes located on Appian Way. Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at 8:41 p.m.

Deputies quickly located two victims suffering from severe gunshot wounds. One of the victims, 25-year-old Dejante Kennedy of Pittsburg was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies provided first aid for the second critically wounded victim, who was later transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

Detectives from the sheriff’s office homicide unit subsequently identified Pierre Jackson, 23 of Antioch, as the suspect. A warrant for Jackson’s arrest was obtained and he was taken into custody on April 5 without further incident.

Jackson was booked into Contra Costa County’s Martinez Detention Facility, where he remains in custody. Bond for his release from jail was set at $3.5 million.

The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s office has charged Jackson with committing murder and attempted murder.
