Stanislaus County parents suspected of horrifically abusing five-month-old baby

A Stanislaus County couple has been arrested on suspicion of prolonged abuse against their 5-month-old child, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

On the morning of Tuesday, March 9, Family Crimes Unit detectives arrested 22-year-old Tasawari Ellis and 21-year-old Isabella Ramirez after their baby girl was admitted to a hospital in Madera for horrific and extensive injuries believed to have been the result of abuse over the course of multiple days.

The baby had reportedly sustained over a dozen fractions all over her body consistent with squeezing, twisting, and pulling various parts of her body and torso. Despite the extent of her injuries, she is expected to survive.

Both Ellis and Ramirez were met by authorities at the hospital and arrested on suspicion of multiple felony charges. Their baby is now in the care of Child Protective Services. No other children resided at their home.

The Sheriff’s Office has reported that Ellis has since been released on bail, but that Ramirez remains in custody awaiting arraignment.
