On March 3, 2021, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigation Unit and the Narcotics Operations Unit concluded a months-long investigation with the execution of a search warrant in the 400 block of Marcus Street, Bakersfield.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of three adult males, a male juvenile, the seizure of over 5,600 M-30 fentanyl pills, several firearms, and a large amount of US currency.
Detectives identified Ramon Hernandez-Jauregui, age 34, Fernando Lopez, age 20, Juan Avitia, age 21 and a 16 year old male, all Bakersfield residents to be involved in the sales and trafficking of large quantities of fentanyl pills.
Hernandez-Jauregui was arrested outside his residence as he attempted to flee in his vehicle. Hernandez was found to be in possession of fentanyl pills and a loaded handgun at the time of his arrest. Lopez, Avitia, and the male juvenile were found to be in possession of several thousand fentanyl pills and a loaded handgun, which were located inside the vehicle they were occupying.
Hernandez-Jauregui was booked into the Central Receiving Facility jail for: possession and transportation of a controlled substance for the purpose of sales, maintaining a residence for narcotic sales, possession of a loaded firearm by a felon, being under the influence of a controlled substance while being armed with a firearm and conspiracy to commit a crime.
Lopez and Avitia were booked into the Central Receiving Facility jail for: possession and transportation of a controlled substance for the purpose of sales, and conspiracy to commit a crime.
The juvenile was booked into the Kern County Probation Dept., Juvenile Hall facility for the following charges: possession and transportation of a controlled substance for the purpose of sales, minor in possession of a loaded firearm, being armed with a loaded firearm while in possession of a controlled substance and conspiracy to commit a crime.
The search warrant at the residence resulted in additional fentanyl pills and a large amount of US currency being located. The currency is believed to be proceeds from the illegal narcotics sales and was seized pending Asset Forfeiture proceedings.
