Homeless Man Charged with Rape of an Unconscious Homeless Woman

POMONA – Detectives from the Pomona Police Department Major Crimes Unit have been busy delving into the dark facts of a woman found deceased on Tuesday, January 12th, to the rear of 2001 S. Garey Ave. Arrested, shortly thereafter for sexual assault was 41-year-old, Jerome Dandre Perrin of Pomona.

The tragic acts leading up to the 35-year-old homeless woman’s demise were brought to light upon Perrin’s booking at Pomona City Jail for the following charges:

(1) – 261(A)(4) PC – Rape of an unconscious person
(2) – 209(b)(1) PC – Kidnapping with the intent to commit rape
(3) – 288A(F) PC – Oral Copulation of an unconscious person
(4) – 289(D)(1) PC – Sexual Penetration with a foreign object of an unconscious person

On January 19th, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced, “On January 11, Perrin allegedly found the victim, who appeared to be sick, in a back lot near the 2000 block of South Garey Avenue,” said Prosecutor Deputy District Attorney Lisa Harris. “The defendant is accused of dragging her to a dark location and sexually assaulting her. He then allegedly covered her with a blanket and left. The victim later died and her body was discovered the following day.”

Pomona PD found the deceased victim at the rear end of the property on Garvey Avenue. Detectives in this ongoing case have reason to believe that the suspect and the victim living on the streets of Pomona may have known each other.

The Los Angeles Coroner’s Office is investigating the extent of drugs or alcohol involved in the victim’s demise. While the toxicology reports are forthcoming, results key to this case are pending at this time.

“Jerome Perrin (dob 12/30/78) was charged in case KA126465 with one count each of kidnapping to commit rape, rape of an unconscious or asleep person, oral copulation of an unconscious or asleep person and sexual penetration of an unconscious or asleep person,” said Prosecutor Harris. The arraignment on 01/19/2021 was continued to 02/24/2021 in Dept. N of L.A. County’s Pomona Branch of the Superior Court.

Perrin faces a possible maximum sentence of seven years to life in state prison, if convicted as charged. Pomona Police Department wants you to know that they are “aware of a rumor circulating on social media stating a serial rapist is operating in Pomona.”

To that end, they announced, “We would like to assure our community – we have no reason to believe there is a serial rapist in Pomona. Tuesday’s incident was an isolated incident.”
