A Hollister man has been arrested after reportedly being found passed out on the ground with an unregistered firearm on him.

Just before 11:30 PM on Christmas Eve, officers responded to the 1800 block of Nora Drive on reports of a man down.

Officers found the man, later identified as 25-year-old George Anthony Beltran, unresponsive as he lay in the middle of the roadway. Eventually officers and first responders were able to rouse him, but Beltran told them he didn’t need medical help.

Nonetheless, police say Beltran was visibly intoxicated and couldn’t care for himself. After placing him under arrest for public intoxication, officers searched the bag he had on him and found an unregistered handgun and two magazines.

Beltran was ultimately booked on suspicion of felony possession of a concealed handgun, public intoxication, and violation of a served criminal protective order.
