It was an area known for auto related crimes, and officers were checking it before 1:00 am on January 8th. A report came in that a stolen car was being driven by someone who was a guest at a nearby motel.

Earlier in the evening, in the 100 block of N. Bayshore Boulevard, officers spotted a Honda CRV, unoccupied and parked, at the America’s Best Value Inn.

The ignition of the Honda had been “punched,” damage that is a sign of vehicle theft.

When Carrasco walked out of the motel room, he was arrested, carrying drug paraphernalia and a shaved key.

In his motel room Carrasaco had a sawed-off Remington 870 12-guage shotgun.
