Two arrested for arson and looting in “protests”

On May 30th a protest turned violent, resulting in looting and fires being set. The Chase bank building at 4791 Spring Street was set on fire and caused significant damage.

On Monday November 2 19-year-old Alexander Jacob King was arrested and booked into the San Diego County Jail on charges of arson of a structure and looting.

33-year-old Ricky Bernard Cooper was also arrested on the 2nd and booked for arson of a structure and four separater counts of looting.

These two cases “are under review for criminal charges by the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office. No arraignment date has been set at this time.”

The La Mesa Police Department remind us that “while peaceful protest is aright protected by the U.S. Constitution and a time-honored tradition in our country, violent criminal activity including arson and looting will not be tolerated.”
