A man has been arrested after allegedly leading Los Banos police on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle.

Just before 11 PM on October 22, an officer pulled over 40-year-old Charles Crooper of Fresno for a suspected vehicle code violation in the area of Place Road and St. Patrick’s Drive.

Police say Crooper then sped off, leading police on a pursuit, during which officers were able to run the vehicle’s plates and discovered it had been reported stolen out of Mendota.

The pursuit was short, however, lasting only two miles before Crooper pulled the car over in the Phillips Road area, got out, and surrendered.

Crooper, who turned out to have an outstanding felony warrant for probation violation, was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, felony evading, possession of controlled substance paraphernalia, and receiving stolen property. He remains in custody at the Los Banos Police Department.
