Petaluma man accused of threatening neighbor, discharging firearm

A Petaluma man has been arrested for allegedly making terroristic threats and negligently discharging a firearm after a confrontation with his neighbor.

Just before 10:30 PM on September 13, police responded to the area of Wallace Court to investigate reports of a man armed with a firearm. 9-1-1 callers said the man, later identified as 31-year-old Zachary Lindenbusch, had also fired at least one shot from a firearm.

Sheriff’s deputies and CHP also responded to the scene to help search for Lindenbusch, whom police say had gotten upset with one of his neighbors and threatened to kill them, later returning with a gun and firing a shot in an unknown direction. Fortunately, nobody was injured.

As it turned out, Lindenbusch had simply fled back to his house after firing the alleged shot. After about three hours, authorities finally made contact via telephone and Lindenbusch agreed to turn himself over.

Police later searched his home and located five rifles, one handgun, one shotgun, and numerous rounds of ammunition, as well as a loaded assault rifle leaning against the side of the house.

Lindenbusch remains in custody at the Sonoma County Jail.
