Yolo County inmate gets 10 more years for pimping, pandering from jail

An inmate in Yolo County has been sentenced to another 10 years in prison for pimping and pandering multiple victims while on parole and, in at least once instance, from jail.

According to the District Attorney’s Office, 41-year-old Ray Lawler Jr. of Woodland, who was already serving a sentence for parole violation, had been in contact with an adult victim in Texas whom he was directing how to post to commercial escort websites, set prices for sex acts, ordering her to continue the practice against her wishes, and demanding that she put some of the earnings in his commissary account.

This practice came to the attention of authorities in 2019. However, the ensuing investigation revealed that Lawler had apparently been doing the same to other victims in and around Yolo County since as early as 2017, while he was on parole.

On July 10, 2020, Lawler pleaded no-contest to one charge of pimping, one charge of pandering, one charge of attempted pandering, and admission to a prior-strike offense.
