Suspect arrested in connection to near-fatal shooting in Santa Cruz

A man has been arrested in connection to a near-fatal shooting in Santa Cruz.

Around 7 PM on Wednesday, June 3, a 31-year-old man was found on the 400 block of Cedar Street suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. He has since been stabilized in hospital and is expected to recover.

Investigators soon developed evidence connecting the crime to 28-year-old Marquez Jamar Blanchard, whom they arrested in Scotts Valley on Thursday, July 9.

He was booked and remains housed at the Santa Cruz County Jail.
