Ranch owner detains burglary suspects at gunpoint until deputies arrive

Lassen County deputies have arrested a man and woman accused of burglarizing an unoccupied residence and several outbuildings at Skedaddle Mountain Ranch in Wendel, California.

According to a department press release, the owner of the ranch contacted deputies on Thursday, May 21, to report that various property had been stolen including a green Dodge Ram, a Suzuki ATV, and other items.

The next day, she arrived to find that the Dodge had returned and two individuals were loading more of her property onto a flatbed trailer attached to it. She retrieved a handgun from her vehicle and held them at gunpoint while she called 9-1-1.

Deputies responded and arrested the two suspects — identified as Gerome Beauchman and Samantha Sweeney.

Sweeney reportedly told deputies during her arrest that she and Beachman had more stolen property at their home in Litchfield, which deputies were later able to recover.
