Petty Theft During Declared State of Emergency

It was 1:30 in the morning on April 18, 2020 when a resident of a home on the 100 block of North Plano Street called the Porterville Police Department.

Via the home’s surveillance cameras, the victim watched an unwanted visitor rummage through their car.

Officers arrived as the suspect was leaving. He was apprehended without resistance and identified as 30-year old Tyler Beck of Porterville.

The items stolen from the unsecured vehicle, valued at about $10, were returned to the owner.

Beck was arrested for looting (theft during a declared state of emergency), petty theft, and possession of stolen property.

He was booked at the TCSO South County Detention Facility with bail was set at $50,000.
