Clearlake Police have arrested a man who reportedly tried to flee a traffic stop while armed.

Just after 7:30 AM on February 21st, an officer spotted 27-year-old Steven Farnan driving with expired registration and without a license.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and Farnan pulled into the Speedway gas station on Lakeshore Drive.

As the officer approached to make contact, Farnan tried to flee in the car but was boxed in by other vehicles. When Farnan tried to pull a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun from his waistband while exiting the vehicle, the officer subdued him with a taser and arrested him.

Farnan was booked on probable cause suspicion of possession of a concealed loaded firearm and over half an ounce of heroin.
