SANTA ROSA – On February 5 a gray Pontiac Vibe was stolen and a report about it was filed.

Eight days later on the 13th, a deputy saw the stolen car in the 300 block of Sebastopol Road,

The deputy turned on his red and blue lights but the driver sped up onto Roberts Avenue, and then onto the Joe Rodata Trail.

43-year-old Kirk Williams jr drove on the trail to the Santa Rosa Creek, where he jumped out of the car and began running on the railroad tracks.

With a perimeter set up, deputies discovered Williams hiding in the creek. He was detained and arrested.

The SRPD reports, “Williams was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County jail for misdemeanor failure to yield, felony possession of a stolen vehicle, vehicle theft and a misdemeanor arrest warrant for DUI and resisting arrest. Williams is currently in custody and being held on $35,000 bail.”
