Hemet Police release statement on robbery victim’s condition; suspect sought

Originally published by the Hemet Police Department:

“On December 25th, 2019, at about 9 AM, the Hemet Police Department Communications Center received a call regarding a robbery that just occurred in the 100 block of S. Franklin Street. The victim was approached by a light-complexioned black male adult in a black 2000-2007 Ford Taurus Sedan about a camera the victim had on his person. The suspect grabbed the camera from the victim then fled at a high rate of speed in the suspect vehicle.

Officers arrived on scene and located the victim in the 600 block of E. Acacia Ave. The victim attempted to hold on to the suspect vehicle and was dragged for several blocks. The victim sustained a serious head injury. The victim, identified as a 29-year old male from the Hemet area, was transported to a trauma center in critical condition. The victim is currently in stable condition. The victim’s identity is not being released at this time.
Again, the suspect vehicle is described as a 2000 – 2007 Black Ford Taurus Sedan. The vehicle has distinct wheels, some type of aftermarket chrome emblem on the front fender of the vehicle, and what appears to be damage to the front fender near the driver’s side head light. The suspect is a black male adult, early 20’s and wearing a red, white and blue hat and white shirt.
The Hemet Police Department is seeking public assistance in this matter. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Detective Sgt.
