Ventura County – The City of Oxnard has apparently experienced its 12th homicide of 2019. According to Oxnard Police Department spokesman Sgt. Scott Aaron, on the evening of October 21st, “officers were notified of a stabbing victim” at an apartment complex who was later identified as 49-year-old Oxnard resident Ricardo Silva.

When the cops rolled up to the scene, Silva was discovered “on the ground with an apparent stab wound to the shoulder.” He was promptly transported to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment. Medical intervention proved fruitless, however, as Silva did not survive emergency surgery and was pronounced dead that night.

The ensuing investigation brought 46-year-old Oxnard resident Alvina Rodriguez to the attention of law enforcement as the principal suspect in the deadly assault. It was determined that Rodriguez and Silva had been involved in a romantic relationship prior to the stabbing, and that the violence occurred as the result of a verbal altercation.

Detectives then made contact with Rodriguez and took her into custody. She was transported to Ventura County Jail, where she was booked on a charge of voluntary manslaughter, with her bail set at $110,000. In his report to the media, Aaron appealed to any member of the public who has additional information or “video or photo evidence of the incident” to contact Ventura County Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
