A suspect who robbed $300 in cash from a Santa Fe Springs convenience store four months ago has turned himself in to police.

The suspect, who has now been identified as 19-year-old Hector Garcia Luna of Los Angeles, committed the crime at the AM-PM mini-mart at 12606 E Rosecrans Avenue at around noon on May 20, 2019.

After pulling a chrome semi-automatic handgun from his waistband and aiming it at the store clerks, he helped himself to $300 cash inside the register. Witnesses last saw him driving eastbound on Rosecrans Avenue following the incident.

Whittier police released surveillance of the suspect on their Facebook page and later received a tip on the suspect’s identity. A warrant was issued for his arrest, but he had not yet been detained.

On September 9th, Whittier police announced that the suspect finally turned himself in. He was put in custody at Whittier City Jail and was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, September 11th.
