Murder Suspect Being Sought

Francisco Javier Rodriguez

The Pomona Police are asking for the public’s help in solving a still-open seven-year-old case – by alerting them to the whereabouts of Francisco Javier Rodriguez, 39, who is suspected of intentionally running over and killing Jose DeJesus Chavez on the night of May 5, 2009.

Wanted for Murder 1.6.16

The incident is believed to have occurred at approximately 7:40 pm, when Rodriguez – a lifelong Pomona resident with no prior record who also goes by the name of “Huero” — allegedly used his vehicle to intentionally run over Chavez on the 300 block of South Huntington Street in Pomona, then reversed the vehicle and ran over the victim a second time, before fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed without rendering aid.

Chavez, who was only 30 years old, died from injuries sustained during the incident, which prompted the murder allegation, which police believe was not gang-related, but appears to be domestic-related.

Rodriguez’ vehicle, a Ford Explorer, was located and has been impounded, but Rodriguez himself remains at large. Sgt. Marcus Perez says he may have fled to Mexico. Pomona police describe him as a Hispanic man, about five-foot-eight-inches tall, weighing approximately 170 pounds with brown hair and eyes, with no tattoos at the time of the murder

Wanted for Murder 1.6.16a

The investigation is ongoing with an outstanding warrant since 2009. The Pomona Police Department is asking for the public’s help locating suspect Rodriguez’ whereabouts. Anyone with information may contact Detective Roger Iwig at (909) 802-7429.
