REDDING- An officer with the Redding Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop on a suspected DUI driver after midnight on August 19th.

The driver however had other plans. The driver of the vehicle sped away and a chase begin near Hartnell and Shasta View.

For 26 minutes and 35 miles, and with speeds sometimes exceeding 100 m.p.h., the driver 49-year-old Paul Cruz led the way, until spike strips successfully stopped his run. That was when Cruz and passenger 32-year-old Felicia Gensaw were taken into custody.

The vehicle Cruz drove had been stolen on July 25th, and it sported license plates that had been stolen from yet another vehicle.

The Redding PD press releases summarizes, “Cruz is currently on probation for drug related offenses and was booked into the jail for possession of a stolen car, driving under the influence of drugs, violation of probation.
