El Centro man accused of making criminal threats against Imperial Valley College

IMPERIAL COUNTY — A 21-year-old El Centro man has been arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats to harm students and staff at Imperial Valley College, authorities say.

Roberto Castorena allegedly sent threatening text messages containing photos of the campus and several firearms, drawing an immediate response from Imperial County Sheriff’s Deputies.

Castorena was quickly located and arrested in El Centro, and did not have any weapons in his possession at the time.

He was taken into custody and housed at the Imperial County Jail on $100,000 bond.
