After exchange of words, man stabbed his conversation partner

ELK CREEK – A man was stabbed in the chest near 3600-27 Bush Street on July 16th at 1:24 a.m.

The female caller reported that 28-year-old Tyler Lopez stabbed 31-year-old Joseph Peters before entering a nearby residence.

Apparently Peters was walking down the road when Lopez called him over. After an exchange of words, “Peters punched Lopez in the face and Lopez stabbed Peters in the chest.”

The victim gave his statement to a Sergeant of the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office and then was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.

Deputies found Lopez at a residence, where he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and booked in the Glenn County Jail.

The GCSO reports that  “Lopez was also wanted for questioning in connection to several other reported incidents of criminal activity that occurred at Grindstone Rancheria over the past several months. Lopez was a named suspect in several residential burglaries, theft of firearms, being a felon in possession of firearms, vandalism, threatening juveniles, unlawful discharge of firearms and animal cruelty.”

Lopez is held on a $100,000 bail.
