On July 23rd, Jose Cienfuegos had an idea. A bad idea. Already in law enforcement custody for previous offenses, Cienfuegos was accompanied by transportation deputies of the San Joaquin Sheriff’s Department when he decided to try and run from them while in transit from the court bus to the jail.

And so, as he “exited the bus at the jail facility,” and tried to run in spite of still being handcuffed.

With the gate 200 yards away, a deputy ordered the suspect to stop. He did not. Therefore “he was taken to the ground and placed in administration segregation.”

No one was injured in this incident, and now an escape charge has been added to Cienfuegos’ resume.
