POMONA – A prostitution operation was conducted by Pomona PD along the Holt Avenue corridor, aka “The Track” or “The Blade” from 6/18/19 – 6/22/19. The five-day sting involved undercover officers posing as prostitutes, in order to squelch human trafficking and prostitution activities.
Thirty individuals were arrested during the sting. Fifteen males were locked up for soliciting undercover officers for various sex acts. Fifteen women were arrested for Loitering for the Purposes of Prostitution.
One day’s event proved particularly dark. Tuesday evening’s undercover PD prostitute decoys encountered a suspicious vehicle circling the area. When the vehicle pulled over to the Holt Ave. curb, what first appeared to be a potential “John” became a suspicious driver and passenger.
“Officers assigned to the security team who were also monitoring the scene made contact with the individuals. Once the occupants exited the vehicle, officers located a loaded firearm inside the center console. The driver, who was later identified as 33-year-old Jazzmon Russell of Highland, was arrested for carrying a loaded firearm and for additional warrants to include a federal warrant for weapons violations,” said Pomona PD.
The duo, ID’d as L.A. gang members, who appeared to have been engaged in pimping and prostitution activities, were contacted. The driver was booked into Pomona City Jail.
“The above incident is a prime example of the great dangers our officers face on an everyday basis to ensure the safety of the community.” The Pomona Police Department takes a zero tolerance approach to Human Trafficking and sexual exploitation.
