Two juvenile suspects arrested after string of home invasion robberies

PALO ALTO – Police are asking for help in locating a vehicle that was stolen from an elderly woman who fell victim to a home invasion robbery. The Palo Alto victim’s white 2004 four-door Honda Civic has a California license plate of 5JUD666.
In connection with this request, the Palo Alto Police Department has reported that two juvenile suspects wanted in connection to a home invasion robbery are in custody.
According to police, “On Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at 12:45 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a report of a home invasion robbery that had just occurred in the 900 block of Colorado Avenue.” An elderly woman was targeted by two 15 and 17-year-old male juveniles who entered her home and demanded that she give them her valuables. They then demanded the keys to her white 2004 four-door Honda Civic and drove away.
The San Jose Police Department announced that they had recovered another stolen vehicle related to the teens wanted in the Palo Alto home invasion robbery. A witness recognizing one of the teens from a media broadcast called the police to report the juvenile’s whereabouts.
During a brief car chase, police were able to detain the 17-year-old suspect was also arrested by San Jose Police for residential burglary, resisting arrest and battery on an officer. The 15-year-old suspect was found to be in possession of the elderly woman’s car key. Police are still on the lookout for her vehicle, as it has not yet been located.
Both juvenile suspects were booked into the Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for robbery, burglary, elder abuse, conspiracy, and auto theft. A brief inquiry into the juvenile’s history revealed that the 15-year-old suspect was currently on juvenile probation out of Santa Clara County for vehicle theft, burglary, attempted carjacking, attempted robbery, assault and battery, and possession of burglary tools.
The 17-year-old suspect was also currently on probation out of San Jose for burglary, attempted carjacking, attempted robbery, robbery, vehicle theft, and tampering with a vehicle.
