Guilty verdict for 2018 shooting murder of ex-wife

NEVADA COUNTY –  A jury deliberated for only 45 minutes on April 25th, 2019 and returned a guilty verdict for the February 6th, 2018 murder of 67-year-old Pamela Degrio.

The Nevada County District Attorney’s Office said, “Pamela Degrio was a member of our community and loved by those who knew her. We are grateful that justice prevailed and that the man who murdered her will now be held accountable for his actions.”

On May 1st of 2018 Degrio’s ex-husband, 71-year-old Oroville resident Michael Kent Sturgell, was arrested for her murder. Sturgell shot his ex-wife to death in early February 0f 2018. They were divorced over 40 years ago.

The suspect happened to already be in jail as of April 4th, 2018 for an unrelated burglary of firearms case.  There is no word yet as to Sturgell’s sentence.
