After 4 Years, Ransom Sentenced for Murderous Crime Spree

LOS ANGELES – Over four years after a crime spree that ended three lives and nearly ended a fourth, a man was sentenced to 85 years to life in prison for his crimes.

34-year-old Robert Lawrence Ransom finally learned his fate on Tuesday.

In March of 2014 he killed 19-year-old Margarite Evans with a gunshot.  A few days later he also killed 28-year-old Gisella Yauli and her 1-year-old son.

Approximately two weeks later he forced a teenage girl into a van, assaulted her, doused her with gasoline and prepared to light her on fire before she escaped.

One week later he was arrested. He pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder and one count each of attempted murder and second-degree robbery.
