SAN BERNARDINO — SBSD Deputy J. Cavender initiated a vehicle-code violation traffic stop at 1:26 AM today on a gray GMC Yukon at Del Rosa Ave./ Highland Ave. The accelerating vehicle spurred a pursuit onto the wrong side of the road, recklessly endangering the lives of nearby motorists.

The erratic, fleeing vehicle, with officers in hot pursuit, collided into a tree at the front parking lot of Sheriff’s Headquarters. Once again, the driver, later identified as Andrew Redmond (35) of San Bernardino, attempted to flee in the truck.

Pursuing deputies blocked the escapee. Andrews and a female passenger, identified as Christina Alva (35) of Rialto, were arrested for CVC 2800.2, Felony Evading, without further incident.

Deputy Cavender announced, “During the investigation, deputies found Andrews was currently on Post-Release Community Supervision (PRCS) for PC 69, Felony resisting a Police Officer. Andrews also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for Larceny. Alva had an outstanding warrant for her arrest for Possession of Dangerous Drugs.”

The duo have been booked into the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga for violation of CVC 2800.2, Felony Evading and warrants.
