Police investigating fraudulent purchases after credit card thefts in Davis, Vacaville

DAVIS // Police are trying to identify a person of interest who is suspected of stealing credit cards from teachers and using them to make fraudulent purchases.

The first incident, reported at Korematsu on January 31st of this year, came to light after a woman who’d left her purse in an empty classroom came back to find her wallet stolen. She later learned that her credit cards had been used to make purchases at both Target in Davis and Safeway in Vacaville.

A second incident, reported at Montgomery Elementary School in Davis on February 7th, saw the victim’s credit cards used at Michael’s and Nordstrom Rack in Vacaville. Both thefts occurred between 8 and 10 AM, while the classrooms were empty.

At present, police believe the suspect is not affiliated with the school district.
