CHICO // The Butte County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspected homicide after a missing woman was found dead at her home.

On January 18th at around 4 PM, a man called the Sheriff’s Office to report that his wife and son — identified as 60-year-old Sherry Facciuto and 32-year-old Alton Facciuto, respectively — were missing. At around 5:40 that afternoon, deputies found a vehicle registered to the man and his wife near Bed Bath & Beyond, but no signs of her or Alton.

Deputies then responded to the reporting party’s residence on Anita Road and, in a bizarre twist, found Sherry Facciuto dead on the property. BCSO Investigations Unit arrived and began gathering evidence which, even in the investigation’s early stages, reportedly suggests foul play.

Moreover, attention has fallen on Alton Facciuto as a person of interest. Detectives located Facciuto early on the morning of January 19th and took him into custody on a charge of parole violation. He is currently housed at the Butte County Jail.

As the investigation continues, anyone who may have had recent contact with Facciuto is strongly encouraged to contact the Butte County Sheriff’s Investigations Unit at 530-538-7671.
