EUREKA // Humboldt County Correctional Deputies caught a woman trying to smuggle contraband into the Correctional Facility after the full body scanner revealed controlled prescription meds hidden on her person.

On January 9th just before 10 AM, an Arcata PD officer arrived with 26-year-old Jamie Marie Remington in custody to be booked on felony charges and noted to correctional deputies that she may have tried to conceal something during her arrest.

After a patdown came up empty, Remington underwent a full body scan which revealed contraband hidden in her underwear, which turned out to be fifty 2mg Xanax tablets.

Remington has since been booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, felony vandalism, smuggling a controlled substance into a correctional facility, assault, battery, and possession of a controlled substance.
