FREMONT – Police officers and detectives staked out a grey Mercedes-Benz that was parked on a quiet residential street on December 18—and arrested a woman suspected of murdering a man last weekend.

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class was identified by witnesses who told police they saw the suspect driving away from the 41000 block of Fremont Boulevard, where 19-year-old local resident Yusuf Nawabi was the victim of a fatal knife attack on December 17.

Nawabi suffered stab wounds in his abdomen; he died the same night at a hospital trauma center. Witnesses told investigators they believe his stabbing was preceded by a domestic dispute.

The suspect Ayah Abdallah, 20 of Fremont, fled from the scene, before responding police officers arrived approximately two minutes after the stabbing incident was reported to a police dispatcher at 10:03 p.m.

Officers and detectives coordinated efforts to locate the suspect’s vehicle, and found it about three miles away on the 38000 block of Logan Drive—where they waited for her on the following night.

Abdallah emerged from a nearby residence, entered the car and started driving away, until officers pulled over the vehicle shortly before midnight.

She was questioned and then arrested December 18 at 12:24 a.m. Police recovered a knife that she had with her—the same knife believed used to stab Nawabi. Police searched her home and additional evidence was recovered.

Abdallah was booked at Fremont Jail, charged with murder and use of a deadly weapon.
