Smith Park
LOS ANGELES — On Sunday afternoon a family was enjoying the nice weather at Smith Park, located between Montebello and Whittier.
A 6-year-old boy went to the park’s restroom next to the snack bar. His father was at the snack bar. When the father went to check on his son a few minutes later, he found the boy crying in the bathroom.
The boy then pointed to a man who was in the bathroom behind a stall door.
The man, 38-year-old Eduardo Ciarelli, tried to run but was apprehended by the father and a security guard outside of the bathroom.
Ciarelli was charged with a forcible lewd act on a child. After his arraignment on Tuesday, he faces a trial for the alleged deed and, if convicted, up to 10 years in prison.
